The Benefits of Swift Wart Therapy

Fast treatment session

Minimal Scraping

No aftercare

No pain post-treatment

Few treatments needed

Highly effective

How does it work?

Warts form a few millimetres under the skin, making them hard to reach and treat. Unlike cryotherapy or salicylic acid treatments, Swift targets the root cause of the wart, delivering microwave energy directly into the affected tissue without breaking skin or damaging the surrounding area.

Swift microwaves can be adjusted to focus on a defined area and depth. They generate thermal energy, heating the tissue and triggering a state of stress in the infected cells. Heat causes the release of signalling proteins which alert your body’s immune system to fight the virus.

After Swift treatment, the body recognises and eliminates infected skin cells. New, healthy cells regenerate, and skin returns to normal.

Is Swift safe?

Yes! Microwaves have been used for many clinical purposes for the past few decades, such as cancer treatment. They also show up in everyday life, from kitchen appliances to WiFi and cordless Bluetooth earbuds.

Microwaves are a form of non-ionising radiation, meaning they won’t damage our DNA. Swift combines them with low-level energy, targeting a precise location, so only the wart is affected.

Swift is approved for safe use by the Therapeutic Goods Administration of Australia.

How many treatments will I need?

How many treatments you'll need is dependent on how you respond to Swift microwave therapy. However, most patients require three treatments or less. The treatment method with an 83% successful removal rate includes three treatments spaced one month apart, followed by a three-month follow-up review.

Does Swift hurt?

The rapid heating of the wart to 42-45C can cause discomfort. However, this only lasts for a few seconds. The temperature range is a few degrees warmer than a hot bath and will not cause any serious tissue damage or scarring.

What you need to know

How long does it take

Treatment duration depends on the number of warts and their size. Allow 30 minutes.

Before your appointment

Stop using home wart treatments, particularly acid-based methods, one week before treatment. Avoid using topical local anaesthetic gel or cream before treatment.

Ideally for:

  • Verrucae Plantaris

Please let your podiatrist know if you have any of the following:

  • Diabetes
  • Numbness or tingling in the feet
  • Peripheral vascular disease or poor blood flow to feet
  • History of serious or recurrent infections like cellulitis
  • Any condition that affects your immune system
  • Pregnancy

Metal implants, internal defibrillator, or pacemaker device

After your appointment

It is unlikely that you will see any changes in the appearance of the lesion immediately after treatment. It is normal for a week or even months to pass before a patient notices a transformation, as the lesion will disappear starting at the base, not the surface. Small, black dots may appear; this is a good sign that your immune system is responding to treatment.

In some rare cases, a small blister may form after you receive Swift microwave therapy for plantar warts.

Will my activity be limited after treatment?

Swift should not limit or prevent you from undertaking normal daily activity after treatment.

How long will it take for my wart to disappear?

Patience is key! The process can range from six weeks to nine months after treatment. On average, it takes 80 days for warts to disappear with Swift therapy. There is no way of determining how quickly your immune system will respond to this microwave therapy for warts.

Your wart removal period will depend on:

  • Your age
  • Your overall health
  • The type of HPV infection
  • How long you have had the infection
